Friends,
I've not posted for a while, but I will hopefully have some more time in the coming days. I have not forgotten; I have been reading. If you get the chance check out Eugene Peterson's newest book (2005) Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places. It is worth the money and the time. Also, a classic Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard should be required reading.

Here is the place of thought unconstrained by the clock of Sunday Mornings, unrestrained by the rigors of 'orthodoxy,' and untamed by the banks of the river. Here are thoughts: timeless, 'un'-Orthodox, and wild. Here I can explore, hunt, investigate and challenge. Here there are no itchy ears, no crossed arms, no sleepy eyes. Here the journey is chronicled and the House explored. Thanks for stopping by for a swim. Enjoy my view for a while.

The world with all of its pleasures, power and comforts, is fading away, the pall of divine judgment hangs over it, a new order has arisen in Christ, and only in this new order can be found meaning, hope, and acceptance with God. It is truth, not private sprituality that apostolic Christianity was about. It was Christ, not the self as means of access into the sacred. It was Christ, with all of his painful demands of obedience, not comfortable country clubs that early Christianity was about.
